Gallery Description

The Creative Renewal Fellowship program awards artists with a chance to follow their dreams; I was honored to be chosen as a fellow. This allowed me to experience traveling to a country I thought I would only know in dreams. In the last days of March 2010 when the cherry trees were blossoming, I arrived in Japan. Elemental: The Connections Between Us is a body of work I have created in an attempt to capture fleeting beauty, moments in time, and different states of being. The ethereal essence of the landscape I experienced so often on those spring days in Japan, I wanted to bring back home in a poetic simple way and painting is my vehicle.
