The White River is a vital part of the Central Indiana landscape. My artistic practice is deeply rooted in my love for the natural world and my desire to protect it. As John Muir did during his travels through what would become our National Park system, I gather visual information firsthand through sketchbooks and photographs. This process is essential for the research phase of my creative vision. From there, I paint using beeswax and pigments, the feeling of the place, and capture its essence as well as the fleeting, vivid summer colors. The central theme of my work focuses on the relationship between community and the environment.
