The history of wormwood, a plant that was used in France for medicinal purposes and was added to wine to treat various ailments. However, in later years, wine was replaced with alcohol, like denatured alcohol, which made the mixture toxic. This resulted in the rise of the infamous absinthe drink that had powerful effects on the mind. The painting mentioned depicts a dream-like state induced by absinthe, with Oscar Wilde, Toulouse Lautrec, the green fairy, and wormwood leaves as its subjects. It is set in a beautiful molasses-colored oak frame and has a natural linen liner.
